From April 4th-18th, 2008 the first class of the CGD students had a gallery show to show the rest of the world just what we had been working on. The three pieces I put in were a mock album design I created for Fleetwood Black, a mock poster for a Jamaican restaurant opening event and lastly LP Transit-a map of my life working in the music industry.
Fleetwood Black mock album design-I hand drew the front cover and the name printed on the CD. I also took the photos that are in the inside of the album.
This poster was created for the mock restaurant Red Rocka’s opening night event. I hand drew the image, scanned it in through Photoshop, pulled it into Illustrator where I created a vector image and colored the image. After that I pulled all the pieces into InDesign and finished the layout of the poster.
LP Transit was created for a typography class I had taken. The concept was to create a subway map about five years in your life past, present and or future. I decided to do my map on my work in the music industry of the past five years. I created a pop out style map that comes in what looks like a 7″ album and I drew inspiration from Oslo, Norway’s subway system. I used Illustrator to layout the piece. Below are more images from the show.
